The shape of it

Overview

01 · London

5 nights

Wed 7 – Mon 12 Oct. Private house in Islington or Hampstead. The game falls mid-stay.

02 · Tottenham

Sun 11

Kickoff 2:30pm. Eagles are the designated home team, so the crowd leans your way.

03 · The Cotswolds

2 nights

Mon 12 – Wed 14 Oct. Country manor near Chipping Campden or Stow-on-the-Wold.

Why this order

Four full days in London before kickoff means everyone is off the plane and on local time by Sunday — not squinting through the second quarter. The countryside then does double duty as the recovery day and the wind-down, and the drive back runs straight to Heathrow with no doubling back.

Eight days is tight — build around five anchors

The Tower, the studio tour, a show, the game, the Cotswolds. Everything past that is optional. Overfilling a trip this length is the one reliable way to make it feel like work.

What you give up versus a longer trip: the free Monday in London, a second Cotswolds day, and Bath as an addition rather than a substitution. Three more nights — returning Sat 17 Oct — buys all three back. Toggle it in the budget calculator to see the difference.

Where you’ll stay

London — 5–6 bedroom house, Islington or Hampstead. Both put you 20–40 minutes from the stadium and keep the group together for breakfasts.

Cotswolds — country manor sleeping 12–15, roughly 1h45 from London and the same again to Heathrow.

Backup — a cluster of adjacent serviced apartments if no single house of this size comes free.

Getting around

Airport — pre-booked minivans both ways. Not the Tube, not with luggage.

In London — Tube, black cabs, and one river boat. No car.

Game day — private minibus each way. There is no parking at the stadium and roads close two hours out.

Countryside — two automatic nine-seaters, collected Mon 12th, returned at Heathrow.

Jacksonville Jaguars at Philadelphia Eagles

Kickoff

2:30pm

BST · 9:30am Eastern

Venue

Tottenham

Hotspur Stadium, London N17. Fully enclosed — every seat is under roof.

Designated home

Philadelphia

An away game that isn’t one. Expect a heavily Eagles-leaning crowd.

Running order
09:30
Slow breakfast at the house. Nothing scheduled.
11:30
Minibus collects the group. Allow generously — road closures around the stadium begin two hours before kickoff.
12:30
At the stadium. Security, bag checks and finding fifteen people’s seats all take longer than you think.
13:00
Concourses, merchandise, food. Everything is card or phone only.
14:30
Kickoff.
17:45
Final whistle, roughly. Sunset is around 6:20pm, so you come out into the dark.
18:30
Minibus back to central London for dinner, booked in advance.
Before you go

Entirely cashless

Contactless card or Apple/Google Pay only. No cash is accepted anywhere in the building. Set every phone up before the trip, including the eleven-year-old’s if he’s carrying one.

Bags

Roughly A4 size, or a clear bag no larger than 30×30cm. The stadium notes NFL policy may differ from its football rules — re-check the event page in early October.

No umbrellas

Prohibited item. Bring packable rain jackets or ponchos instead. Also banned: bottles, cans, outside food, professional cameras and long lenses.

Don’t drive

There is no public parking at the venue, and taxi drop-offs land you a half-mile walk out. The minibus is not a luxury.

Nearest station

White Hart Lane, about five minutes on foot, direct from Liverpool Street with extra trains on event days. Your backup if the transport falls through.

Weather

Mid-October London runs around 16°C / 61°F by day, 8°C / 46°F at night, with rain roughly one day in three. Layers and a waterproof shell.

The urgent part

Tickets

Primary sale is sold out. This is the only piece of the trip with genuine scarcity risk — everything else is a matter of money and choice.

Do this first

Call the Tottenham Premium Team: +44 20 8365 5150. They sell hospitality as blocks of inventory, which is the only realistic way to seat 10–15 people together. Ask what they can hold and whether the seating is contiguous.

The recommendation

Split it. Book Premium or Premium Central hospitality for your core five — about £2,150 / $2,900 — so your immediate family is guaranteed together with food handled. Let the extended group pick up resale pairs and quads in the same level.

Resale listings cap at four or five tickets each, so a contiguous block of fifteen isn’t realistic on the secondary market. Aim for the same level and block, not the same row. It’s a perfectly good trip experience — just set expectations with everyone now.

Logistics

Stay & fly

Flights — the routing reality

Only Miami has nonstop widebody service to London, and only to Heathrow. Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach have none — Norse Atlantic’s Gatwick route appears terminated.

AirlinePremium cabinAircraftDeparts MIARound trip / person
British Airways PickWorld Traveller PlusA380 or 787-10BA206 ~17:00 · BA208 ~22:40~$2,000–2,900
Virgin AtlanticPremium787-9 or A330neoVS6 ~18:05 · VS118 ~22:35~$1,900–2,800
AmericanPremium Economy777-300ERAA38 ~19:45~$2,000–3,000

The eleven-year-old pays full adult fare — there is no child discount in international premium economy. Both BA and Virgin include two checked bags at 23kg and free seat selection. Cabins are 2-4-2, so five people split as 2+3. Book direct with the airline, then call to lock seats: premium economy has only 28–55 seats per aircraft.

Where to base in London
AreaTo the stadiumVerdict
Islington Best balance20–30 minGeorgian terraces, good 5–7BR stock, easy central access, walkable restaurants
Hampstead / Belsize Park Best houses35–40 minBest large-house stock in London. Real gardens, actual driveways for the rental car
Primrose Hill30–35 minCharming and family-friendly, but fewer genuinely big houses
Notting Hill45–55 minBeautiful, good stock, longest game-day commute
Kensington / Chelsea45–60 minThe most 6–8BR inventory in London, and the worst stadium access

Two things that limit your options

London’s 90-day short-let cap limits how many nights a whole home can be let short-term per year. Some of the best houses are already maxed out for 2026 regardless of price — which is why true 7–8 bedroom stock is thin.

“Sleeps 15” usually means sofa beds. Get a room-by-room bed list in writing before you wire anything. You don’t want a paying adult on a pull-out.

Who to email

London houses

Onefinestay — curated luxury homes with concierge. Strong Hampstead stock.

London Perfect — London only, 20+ years. Enquire direct for 6BR+.

Veeve — London-focused designer houses.

LVH Global — true mansions, bespoke and on request.

Plum Guide — heavily vetted.

Cotswolds manors

Kate & Tom’s — the specialist in large UK country houses. Best fit for “make it special.”

Unique Homestays — curated luxury manors.

Oliver’s Travels — large houses collection.

Rural Retreats — headquartered in the Cotswolds.

Big Cottages — aggregator with sleeps-12/16/20 filters.

The car

You need two automatic nine-seat minibuses for a group of 12–15, collected Mon 12th and returned at Heathrow. Book automatic explicitly — the UK fleet is overwhelmingly manual, automatics cost 15–30% more, and large-vehicle automatics sell out first.

A US licence is generally valid for visitors, but get an International Driving Permit from AAA anyway (~$20). Many rental counters require one as company policy regardless of the law, and you don’t want that argument at Heathrow at 9am.

About these numbers

The seven-day forecast doesn’t reach our trip yet.

So the table below is the more useful one: what the weather actually did on our exact dates, 6–14 October, one year ago. Real recorded observations, not averages — a much better guide for packing than a seasonal normal.
